PortLog’s 5 unique layers of data
PortLog is a unique resource for commercial shipping organisations looking for better data to base fixture decisions on – at terminal level.
Built on layers of unique data and IP, it combines Statement-of-Facts (SOF) data and DA-Desk data with cleansed AIS and weather data.
Here are 5 features and services which are available, online, on the PortLog platform for our customers to benefit from.

1. Time in port – predicting delays, risk and opportunities
What
Look-up estimates for port time and turnaround time analysis, for any specific combination of vessel size, commodity, and port activity
Crucially, using these search criteria PortLog will predict the most likely terminal and apply the most relevant scenario for the total port call, split into the three main stages of waiting time, cargo operations and departure.
Our popular ‘Vessels at terminal’ feature allows you to view current and past waiting times, and the ‘rain multiplier’ estimates the expected impact of any time lost due to rain stoppages.
Where does PortLog get the data?
From all the SoFs processed from each of our customer’s port calls through our platform. The SOF data is cleansed, standardised, transcribed and digitised and used to created anonymized benchmarks for each port event.
Using AIS data and berth level mapping of ports and terminals to create digital mini-SOFs for each port call.
How do I get access to this information/tool?
The easy-to-use online query tool is available on the PortLog platform, exclusively available to PortLog customers.

2. Port cost estimates – predicting costs, understanding drivers
What
For a specific port call (for a combination of port, vessel type, commodity, activity) get port cost estimates based on real, historic data.
See both:
All your previous DAs for the port call filters you have input; and
Anonymized benchmarks from DA-Desk’s wealth of data.
98% of PortLog’s users’ searches return results, and the data is added to the platform multiple times a day. In the rare scenario where you don’t get the data you need, our Request Estimate feature ensures you will always be able to receive a cost estimate for any port in the world
PortLog also provides information on industry-wide discount opportunities and cost risk factors.
Where does PortLog get the data?
From DA’s of hundreds of thousands of port calls that have been processed via our platform.
